The MCS, Standard Pathway

You are a strong coach, and you are ready to mentor other coaches. Maybe you have been asked to, maybe you have started informally, maybe you simply know it is your next step. ICF now recognizes mentor coaching through the Mentor Coach Specialization, and the Standard Pathway is built for exactly your situation, a capable coach ready to begin mentoring, without a long mentoring history to document yet.
This is where you learn to mentor. Unlike the Credit for Prior Learning route, the Standard Pathway does not ask you to have mentored five coaches already. The supervised practice built into this program is your mentoring experience. You bring the coaching and the ICF credential. We bring the education, the appraisal training, and the real practice that makes you a mentor coach others can trust.
Recognized. ICF-Aligned.
Our program provides the mentor coaching education the Standard Pathway calls for, and is built to make your judgment reliable:
-
Live, synchronous sessions led by an experienced Mentor Coach and ICF PCC
-
46 hours of mentor coaching education and supervised practice, more than half delivered live
-
Real Faculty Reference Cases you learn to rate against ICF standards
-
Cross-Assessor Calibration, seeing where assessors agree and where they differ
-
Supervised practice built in, triads and a real coaching client, so your mentoring experience is part of the program
-
A repeatable structure for developmental feedback that grows a coach
-
Lifetime access to teaching recordings in Google Classroom
-
A small cohort, capped at 9, with practice in triads throughout

Forty-six hours, delivered live with practice between sessions, across six units covering all six ICF Mentor Coaching Competencies.
The first ten of these hours are our ICF CCE-accredited Mentor Coach Training, included as the foundation. The further hours are deepened teaching and supervised practice. The 46-hour program as a whole is not separately accredited.
What You’ll Explore:
-
Foundation and Ethics: what mentor coaching is, the competency model, and the ethical ground it stands on
-
Agreements and Process: contracting, the engagement arc, role boundaries, and managing the work over time
-
Formative Appraisal (the heart of the course): appraising real sessions against ICF standards, faculty reference cases, and live calibration
-
Developmental Conversation: feedback that develops, the developmental question, and delivery that lands
-
Practice and Calibration: Group Mentor Coaching: facilitating and managing the group mentoring process.
-
Supervised Practice: triads where you mentor, coach, and are coached, mentoring a real coach, and a one-to-one review of your own mentoring, the practice the Standard Pathway is built on
You will learn to see coaching. Not just do it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior mentoring experience to enrol? No. This is the route for coaches ready to begin. Unlike the Credit for Prior Learning pathway, the Standard Pathway does not ask you to have mentored before. The supervised practice built into the program is your mentoring experience.
Is this program accredited by ICF? The first ten hours are our ICF CCE-accredited Mentor Coach Training, included as the foundation. The further hours are deepened teaching and supervised practice. The 46-hour program as a whole is not separately accredited, and it is built to meet the ICF Mentor Coach Specialization Standard Pathway.
How is it delivered, and what is the time commitment? Forty-six hours, delivered live with practice between sessions, more than half of it synchronous. You appraise real sessions, calibrate against experienced assessors, and practise the mentoring itself in supervised triads and with a real coach.
What do I need to enrol? A current ICF credential, a PCC, or an ACC that has completed at least one renewal. The renewal requirement means you bring real coaching experience to the mentoring role.
What level will I be able to mentor toward? The level you can mentor toward depends on your own ICF credential and the level-specific evaluation training you complete, ACC BARS, PCC Markers, or MCC BARS. On that basis the pathway supports mentoring toward ACC, PCC, and MCC.
How is this different from the Credit for Prior Learning route? The Credit for Prior Learning route is for coaches who have already mentored at least five coaches and want it recognized. The Standard Pathway is for coaches ready to begin, where supervised practice inside the program stands as your mentoring experience. Same destination, the Mentor Coach Specialization, different starting point.
